Red Enchilada Sauce (Recipe)

This flavorful, Mexican-style Red Enchilda Sauce is delicious with so many things. After making this sauce to go with a Mexican meal I was serving, it became a must-have. I always keep it around because the family loves it and likes to make sure I’m planning to make more when the jar of sauce is getting empty. :) It’s just that good!

Prep Time: 2 minutes

Cook Time: 17 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • salt to taste

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a small saucepan.
  2. Stir in the flour.
  3. Cook 1 minute.
  4. Add spices and cook 1 more minute.
  5. Whisk broth in till no lumps remain.
  6. Simmer 10–15 minutes till slightly thickened.
  7. Add salt to taste.
Serve with eggs, hamburgers, or your favorite Mexican dishes!
