“We Couldn’t Believe It!”: Couple’s Birthday Vacation Takes a Wild Turn as Howling Pack of 9 Wolves Surrounds Their Cabin

A New Jersey couple’s peaceful getaway in the Canadian wilderness turned into an unforgettable wildlife encounter when they found themselves surrounded by a howling pack of nine wolves late one night.

Michee Jules, 34, and his wife, Maya, 33, were visiting Quebec, Canada, in February to celebrate Michee’s birthday when their vacation took a thrilling twist.

“We couldn’t believe it,” Michee said, recounting the moment the wolves appeared outside their cabin. “It felt so joyful to be able to watch these animals.”

The couple had been told that wolves frequented the area, but neither expected to see so many at once—and certainly not right outside the glass walls of their cabin. The wolves, which seemed to appear out of nowhere, began howling into the night, creating an eerie yet awe-inspiring scene.

“I love animals, and my passion is to capture the moments while seeing them interacting in their natural environment,” said Michee, a photographer from New Jersey. The couple’s original plan for a peaceful birthday celebration quickly transformed into a daily wildlife spectacle.

For the seven days they stayed in the cabin, Michee and Maya reported seeing the wolves each night. “I couldn’t believe we were lucky enough to see the wolves so close up and so often,” Michee shared.

Despite the close proximity of the pack, Michee said the wolves seemed calm and unthreatening. “When I opened the door to the wolves, I was very surprised by their calm reaction,” he said. “I still kept my distance, but I wasn’t bothered nor did I feel threatened.”

While many might have been frightened by such an encounter, Michee found the experience mesmerizing. “I’d definitely go back to Canada again just for this experience alone,” he said.

The couple’s unexpected encounter with the wolves left a lasting impression, making it a birthday celebration unlike any other. The peaceful beauty of the wolves’ nightly visits turned their trip into a story they will tell for years to come.
