The assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk on September 10th saddened the entire nation.
In the days and weeks following this young conservative’s passing, vigils, memorials, and prayers sprang up across the country. Republicans as well as Democrats spoke up and offered condolences to Kirk’s family.
America seems more united than it has been, for a very long time.
However, our country has become increasingly divided in politics and in ideology in recent years.
A poll conducted in the wake of the shooting suggests 80% of Americans think the country is near a breaking point in its disagreements over politics. A
2023 Gallup poll says nearly 75% of Americans believe the news media have deepened political divisions in the United States.
All these make us ponder—
can we afford to remain divided? What would be the better path forward?
