Ukraine’s Peace Plan

Ukraine hopes to present a plan for ending its ongoing conflict with Russia to U.S. leaders next month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

“The main point of this plan is to force Russia to end the war,” Zelenskyy said on Aug. 27. “I want that very much.” However, he stressed that any negotiated settlement should be “fair for Ukraine.” Read the full story here›

Half of Baby Foods in Stores Are Unhealthy

Many foods marketed for infants and toddlers are unhealthy and may lead to increased obesity, poor dietary habits, and chronic diseases, according to a new study examining many of the most common products.

Researchers analyzing 651 products from 10 U.S. grocery chains discovered that 60 percent of the processed foods fell short of nutritional requirements set by the World Health Organization. The foods sampled were intended for children 6 to 36 months old. The study excluded infant formula, electrolytes, and toddler milk, which are regulated separately.

“The lowest compliance was found for total protein and total sugar, with over 70% of products failing to meet protein requirements and 44% exceeding total sugar recommendations,” the researchers wrote in the study published last week in the journal Nutrients. Read the full story here›

France Charges Telegram Founder

French authorities on Aug. 28 issued preliminary charges against Telegram CEO Pavel Durov, accusing him of permitting alleged criminal activity on the messaging app. The charging decision comes four days after French authorities detained Durov at the Paris–Le Bourget Airport, as he arrived on his private jet from Azerbaijan.

Earlier on Aug. 28, Durov was released from police detention and ordered to appear in court for further consideration of his case. A French court also ordered Durov to pay 5 million euros ($5.5 million) in bail and to report to a police station twice per week, according to a statement from the Paris prosecutor’s office.

Allegations against the Russia-born Durov, who is a French citizen, include that his platform is being used for child sexual abuse material and drug trafficking and that Telegram has refused to cooperate with criminal investigators. Read the full story here›

A Hope-filled Prison Drama
A Hope-filled Prison Drama
"Sing Sing" isn't just another prison drama—it's a profound exploration of redemption and transformation. Directed by Greg Kwedar, this film blurs the line between fiction and reality by casting real-life former inmates alongside seasoned actors like Colman Domingo and Paul Raci.

The story centers around the friendship between Divine G, a wrongly convicted prisoner, and Divine Eye, a penitentiary predator. Through the Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) program, these men find unexpected paths to personal growth and hope.

As the men confront their pasts and embrace the challenges of prison theater, "Sing Sing" explores themes of redemption, friendship, and the capacity for personal growth, even in the harshest environments. The film offers a rare glimpse into the humanity often overlooked in the prison system. It's a must-see for anyone interested in art's power to change lives—even the lives of those behind bars.
