President Donald Trump directed top military officials and prosecutors to “liberate Los Angeles” amid ongoing riots related to Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids targeting illegal immigration in the city.
“A once great American City, Los Angeles, has been invaded and occupied by Illegal Aliens and Criminals,” Trump said in a post on social media platform Truth Social. “Now violent, insurrectionist mobs are swarming and attacking our Federal Agents to try and stop our deportation operations—But these lawless riots only strengthen our resolve.”
The president said he was directing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Attorney General Pam Bondi “to take all such action necessary to liberate Los Angeles from the Migrant Invasion, and put an end to these Migrant riots.” “Order will be restored, the Illegals will be expelled, and Los Angeles will be set free,” Trump said. National Guard troops were also confirmed to be in Los Angeles after Trump ordered their deployment over the weekend, following days of protests and riots in the city.
The U.S. Northern Command confirmed in a post on social media platform X on the morning of June 8 that the California National Guard had started deploying troops in the Los Angeles area and that some members “are already on the ground.” California Gov. Gavin Newsom asked for withdrawal of the guardsmen. “I have formally requested the Trump Administration rescind their unlawful deployment of troops in Los Angeles county and return them to my command,” Newsom stated. “We didn’t have a problem until Trump got involved.” (💬 Comment) More Politics:

With median home prices exceeding $1 million in many U.S. housing markets, some real estate professionals are drawing attention to a 28-year-old capital gains tax law, citing it as one factor contributing to the nationwide housing shortage.
A recent report from Realtor.com shows that California is home to 8 of the 10 most expensive housing markets in the United States. San Jose tops the list with a median sales price of $2.02 million, followed by Anaheim and San Francisco at $1.45 million and $1.32 million, respectively.
Ken DeLeon, founder of DeLeon Realty in Palo Alto, told The Epoch Times that some communities in the San Francisco Bay Area have experienced skyrocketing home prices, which have jumped 667 percent on average since 1997—the year the Taxpayer Relief Act was signed into law, allowing married homeowners to exclude up to $500,000 in capital gains from the sale of their primary residence, and $250,000 for single homeowners. “This outdated capital gains law has resulted in an artificially-created housing shortage,” DeLeon said. “A lot of older people who have lived in their homes for 30 years or more want to sell, but the value of those homes has tripled or quadrupled now. Some of these sellers could now be facing capital gains taxes of over $1 million.”
The median cost of a single-family home in 1997 was $143,000, compared with $414,000 in April 2025, as reported by the National Association of Realtors.
With the combined federal and state capital gains tax rate now at 37.1 percent in California, potential sellers seeking to avoid elevated tax exposure are choosing instead to remain in their current properties. (More) More U.S. News |

COVID-19 cases in China increased by more than 160 percent in May, according to the latest official data from the Chinese communist regime.
But Chinese residents across the country continue to report to The Epoch Times and on social media that they believe the situation is more serious than what authorities have acknowledged.
The Chinese Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 440,662 COVID-19 cases, including 606 severe cases, and seven deaths for the month of May. That’s more than double the total cases in April, when the agency reported 168,507 cases, 340 severe cases, and nine deaths.
“The number of newly confirmed cases reported daily fluctuated up to the peak on May 26 and then fluctuated down,” the China CDC said, while identifying the main epidemic strain as NB.1.8.1—a sixth-generation sub-branch of the XDV Omicron variant.
Liu Qiyong, a researcher at the China CDC, said at a National Health Commission press briefing on June 5 that the COVID-19 outbreak in China reached a peak in May but “is showing a downward trend in some provinces.” Liu added that currently, clinical cases are mostly mild, and existing detection reagents and drugs are still effective.
Tang Jingyuan, a U.S.-based physician and current affairs commentator, told The Epoch Times on June 7 that Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials are saying the outbreak is on a downward trend to avoid public panic. (More)

Bananas have long been celebrated for their digestive benefits—a status that endures today. For centuries, Ayurveda has considered bananas as cooling and moisturizing, helping to ease inflammation and dryness in the digestive tract. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) uses unripe bananas for diarrhea and colitis, while ripe ones help treat ulcers and constipation. In conventional medicine, bananas are also suggested as an aid in digestion. They’re a key part of the BRAT (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) diet, which is often recommended for soothing digestive issues such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, especially during recovery from stomach flu or food poisoning. Beyond their digestive benefits, bananas help lower blood pressure and enhance mood. Benefits Digestion—Bananas contain two important types of fiber—pectin and resistant starch—which aid digestion. Pectin slows digestion to support nutrient absorption and regulate bowel movements. Meanwhile, resistant starch, especially found in green bananas, bypasses digestion in the small intestine and ferments in the large intestine, feeding beneficial gut bacteria, improving stool consistency, and reducing bloating.
Supports Cardiovascular Health—The powerful combination of potassium and magnesium in bananas helps the heart and cardiovascular system function optimally, mainly by affecting heart rhythm and blood pressure. Potassium helps to relax blood vessels and counteract the effects of sodium, which contributes to increased blood pressure.
May Help Boost Your Mood—Bananas contain various nutrients that may help boost our mood, such as tryptophan, vitamin B6, and magnesium.
Tryptophan is an amino acid needed to make serotonin, a “feel-good” neurotransmitter that helps to regulate mood. (More) |
