Smith Appeals Special counsel Jack Smith on Aug. 26 appealed a Florida judge’s decision dismissing the classified documents case against Trump. Smith argues that his appointment by the attorney general and the funding he receives are valid. Judge Aileen Cannon ruled in July that Smith’s appointment ran afoul of the constitutional requirement for congressional approval in the appointment of officers and government funding. “The Attorney General validly appointed the Special Counsel, who is also properly funded,” the special counsel said in a brief to the appellate court on Aug. 26. Amazonian Superfruit May Reverse Fatty Liver Disease Camu camu, a small yet powerful berry from the Amazon rainforest, could be useful in treating non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, recent research suggests. | Far From Home | Few 20th-century composers left as deep a mark on popular culture as Sergei Rachmaninoff. His emotive music has graced countless films, adding depth to memorable scenes like the romance in "Brief Encounter" and Phil Connors's transformative journey in "Groundhog Day."
Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini," one of his most celebrated works, encapsulates both his technical brilliance and some of the darker undertones of his life. It's a piece that not only demands virtuosity, but also captures the complex, often melancholic spirit of its composer. Behind Rachmaninoff's popularity was a personal story of struggle, exile, and a longing for home.
The Soviet exile faced bans in his homeland and skepticism from his Western peers, but his music has endured. It resonates today as a testament to the power of artistry amid personal and cultural upheaval. | | |
