Unite America. Choose a News Source Rooted in Truth and Tradition

The assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk on September 10th saddened the entire nation.

In the days and weeks following this young conservative’s passing, vigils, memorials, and prayers sprang up across the country. Republicans as well as Democrats spoke up and offered condolences to Kirk’s family.

America seems more united than it has been, for a very long time.

However, our country has become increasingly divided in politics and in ideology in recent years. A poll conducted in the wake of the shooting suggests 80% of Americans think the country is near a breaking point in its disagreements over politics. A 2023 Gallup poll says nearly 75% of Americans believe the news media have deepened political divisions in the United States.

All these make us ponder—can we afford to remain divided? What would be the better path forward?

At The Epoch Times, we don’t follow the unhealthy trend of partisan journalism prevalent in today’s media environment. Instead, we remain fully independent from any corporation or political party, and when reporting the news, we value impartiality.

Because freedom and integrity of the press are vital to a thriving society. Because a publication rooted in the founding principles of the country will help more Americans find common ground.

It’s time to unite America. So choose a publication that is here for all Americans.

Trump Announces New Executive Order to Dismantle Antifa

President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he would be signing a new executive order to dismantle Antifa networks in the United States.

“We have already declared ANTIFA a Terrorist Organization, and I will be signing an Executive Order this week to dismantle these Domestic Terrorism Networks,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, referencing an executive order he signed earlier this week to declare the loosely organized left-wing group a domestic terrorist organization.

Antifa, standing for “anti-fascist,” is a left-wing group that acts through decentralized cells and doesn’t have a formal organizational or leadership structure. Members affiliated with the group have been spotted engaging in violence during protests, particularly those related to Black Lives Matter or opposing Trump. They generally subscribed to extreme political views that are communist or anarchist. (More)

‘The Summer House’: Quiet and Extraordinary
‘The Summer House’: Quiet and Extraordinary
True greatness in building design is something to be cherished and, hopefully, experienced firsthand. This can be seen in the Gothic cathedral in Köln, Germany, for example, or a frieze from the Parthenon, or the simplicity of a well-placed window with a stellar view. “The Summer House” is the next best thing.

The novel is a chance to indulge in a thousand vignettes of quiet, poetic brilliance woven through the story of a young designer’s experiences at a company retreat one summer. Each page exemplifies the simple joys to be found in the best of man-made structures.

Every year, from late July to mid-September, the staff at Murai Office of Architectural Design in Tokyo relocate to a place known as the Summer House, located in the forested mountains of Aoguri. Set in the mid-1980s, the story revolves around designer Shunsuke Murai (referred to as Murai Sensei, or just Sensei). He’s now in his 70s; for the last several years, there’s been an unspoken understanding that his work effort is slowing down, and an eventual stop will be coming sooner rather than later.

Murai, however, is a respected architect who avoids publicity and selects clients carefully. Though he’s never gained the sort of notoriety that a Frank Lloyd Wright would, those in the related industries have great respect for him.

“The Summer House” is narrated by Toru Sakanishi, who is looking back on his early professional years at the Murai Office as a budding architect. He initially wrote a letter to the Murai Office on a whim and was unexpectedly invited for an interview.
