| Trump Proposes US Take Over the Gaza Strip After meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday afternoon, President Donald Trump suggested the United States could “take over” the Gaza Strip to rebuild it.
Trump said today’s Gazans need a chance to live safely and securely somewhere else, like Egypt or Jordan. He then said, “Instead of having to go back and do it again, the U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too.”
“We’ll own it, and will be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site. We’ll level the site and get rid of all the destroyed buildings. Just level it out and create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area. (More) |
| 20,000 Federal Workers Take Buyout Offer More than 20,000 federal workers have accepted President Donald Trump’s buyout offer since last week, and officials expect many more before the Feb. 6 deadline, according to an administration official. “The number of deferred resignations is rapidly growing, and we’re expecting the largest spike to come 24 to 48 hours before the deadline,” the official told The Epoch Times.
Trump’s offer is part of his promised initiative to reduce the size and cost of the federal government, an effort assigned to the Department of Government Efficiency, an advisory body headed by billionaire space entrepreneur Elon Musk.
The buyout offer allows federal workers who accept it to receive full pay and benefits coverage for eight months, exempts them from newly issued orders to return to work at their official duty stations on a daily basis, and protects them against reduction-in-force processes that are expected to begin in the near future in many federal departments and agencies. | USPS Temporarily Stops Accepting Inbound Parcels From China, Hong Kong The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) on Tuesday suspended the acceptance of inbound parcels from China and Hong Kong until further notice. The service suspension, which took effect immediately, will not affect letters and flats—such as large envelopes, newsletters, and magazines—sent from China and Hong Kong.
The USPS did not offer a reason for the suspension or indicate how long it would be in place. President Donald Trump signed an executive order suspending the duty-free exemption for low-value shipments from China as part of an effort to curb the entry of fentanyl and its precursor chemicals into the United States.
Removing the de minimis standard means that goods of any value will be subject to all duties assessed by the United States. Previously, items valued below $800 were imported duty-free. (More) How did you enjoy today's Morning Brief? Tell us what you think here. |
